It seems that the Fender Stratocaster guitar has finally gotten up to bat against the rock-heavy Les Paul guitar. The 50 year feud is now commemorated in a new DVD that has been released. This DVD chronicles the fabled history of both guitars- who are still at war even today!
Solidbodies, The 50 Year Guitar War is out now. It details how both the Fender Stratocaster and the Gibson Les Paul dominated, shaped, and totally rocked the last 50 years!
Will the battle ever end?
My money is on Fender. What say you?

As far as Vintage Guitars go…and I would consider myself an expert, I have to say Gibson Guitars have the upper hand. I think for the everyday consumer the Stratocaster is solid but for the professional the Les Paul is the way to go!

Hmnmm, Gibson, I would have to disagree, although I totally see your point. What about SRV, Hendrix, Clapton, Edge, Eric Johnson, Buddy Guy, Ronnie Wood, and Steve Winwood. What type of Gibson do you have though?
I favor the 335’s myself. Thanks for the comment!

I’d give the nod to the strat as well. The Les Paul is everyone’s dream guitar (I’ve had three), but the strat put a guitar in the hands of “Joe Everyman.” Add the celebrity endorsement of some of the greatest rock gods in history, and there you are.
Zappa said it best. “It was a red stratocaster with a whammy bar!”
